My neurologist ( yes I have a neurologist) works from very very plush rooms. Rich timber graces the walls and the art is interesting enough to keep me entertained while he explains ( at length cos he is a neurologist) what is wrong with me. I love most of that room. It breathes comfort and luxury.
The one thing that confuses me sits in the corner on a shiny silver tray next to sparkling crystal glasses. It's an expensive bottle of scotch and it seems somewhat out of place in this environment.
Now don't get me wrong, each to his own but in a neurologist's rooms you would surely admit it's odd. Why is it there? Does he start his day with a little pick me up? Does he congratulate people on only having one tumour instead of two, with a shared drink? Does he look at it longingly and count down the hours till drink o'clock? Or is the information he deals with so scary that he finds solace in the bottle's arms between patients?
So tomorrow is neuro day because the F.E.D and I both have review appointments. Bring on a day of drawing circles, standing on one foot, tapping knees and all the weird and wonderful tests that give an insight into the human brain!!! Maybe we will pass our reviews with flying colours and be rewarded with a top notch drink!
